Abstract

The main direction of the criminological research has always been the explanation of criminality and its structural components – certain types of crimes enshrined in the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In criminology, the most important is the question of
how significant is the response of the social system in the form of the probability of a certain number of crimes on the effect of certain factors. The article examines various approaches to the search and
analysis of the causes of crime: from the traditions of the positive school, which explains the statistical changes in crime by the direct influence of social factors, to the economic approach of the rational
choice of criminal behavior, which proposes to refuse special explanations, such as the fall of morals, psychological imbalance or innate tendencies, in the general theory of criminal behavior.
